Who is The World's Mightiest SHAZAM!, er, I mean Captain Marvel Fan?!?

Image
The following is a semi-autobiographical look at the origins of my love of Captain Marvel and at the end I reveal the identity of The World's Mightiest Captain Marvel Fan ! Be aware that it does take a turn at the end! I love Captain Marvel and yes, I love Shazam! I don’t see that as a contradiction and I don’t see loving the New 52 Shazam! as a black mark or that I’m not a real or true Big Red Cheese fan. I was born in 1960, so I missed the Original Captain Marvel by about 7 years … not that I came out of the womb being able to read or even understand printed pictures but I do remember having a copy of World’s Finest in my crib (at least I think it was because it had Superman, Batman, and Robin in it). By the time I was 10 years old, I was a hard and fast DC Comics fan, who also read Marvel Comics. My favorite comic was Justice League of America and I adored the JLA/JSA team-ups. If asked, I could give the secret identities of even the most obscure DC character (thanks to the tex...

Man of Miracles - Action Figure - McFarlane Toys (2006)

Image
By Walt Grogan The Marvel Family, and particularly, Captain Marvel, produced some offshoots (sometimes unwittingly) -- one of which was Marvelman , who begot Miracleman, and who begot Man of Miracles. Man of Miracles is a character in Todd McFarlane's Spawn Universe. Man of Miracles is loosely based on the Miracleman character created by Alan Moore and Garry Leach (and shares the secret identity name of Mike Moran). Man of Miracles debuted in Spawn #150. Although it was marketed as an action figure, the Man of Miracles is best described as a painted statue with a few points of articulation. The is limited neck movement, his wrists move and there is movement at the waist and that's it. DC Comics Icons: Black Adam - Forever Evil - Action Figure (2015)

Image
by Walt Grogan In 2015, DC Collectibles launched a new line of action figures in a 6" scale with multiple points of articulation. This smaller scale of action figures also included additional accessories often not included with other figures such as additional hands in various poses. The line ultimately produced 25 single figure packaged action figures as well as an Atom 3-pack, a Darkseid/Grail 2-pack, a Superboy/Robin 2-pack, a Superman/Doomsday 2-pack and a New 52 Justice League 7-pack. The Batman and Superman figures (#27 & #28) and the Justice League multi-pack were released in the 6.75" scale. There was also an accessory pack. The first (and only) Marvel Family member to be produced for the line was The New 52 Black Adam. based on the Gary Frank design from the SHAZAM!: Rebirth storyline that was serialized in Justice League. DC intended to follow this release up with a Captain Marvel/"SHAZAM!" figure which was solicited but ultimately canceled. Solicitati...
